Shades always capture and liberate my imaginations at the same time. Every
canvas is capable enough to speak volumes about vibrant motifs perceived by a
human mind. And to listen to this, all that is needed is an unbridled mind.
Various shades embody different emotions and meanings. Where the shade of white
exudes purity, light and endless possibilities, on the opposite end black stands
for an end offering to soothe and calm. An idea of fire & passion flashes red
shade on mind’s screen. Blue fuses heaven & truth, nature is depicted by vivid
green where as an orange shade sparkles with liveliness. An artist employs
various shades to capture different moods.
So, is it possible to create a world without all these meaningful shades?
Imagine a world of ideas created just with one single shade. And yet it is so
strong that it promises to capture every possible mood and idea to the fullest
extent. The answer is yes. The world of coffee painting nullifies these doubts.
Coffee, a substance generally favored by a person with artistic instincts
for its reach aroma holds myriad other uses as well. One of which is use of
these strong brown shade to bring the imagination to the reality of canvas. The
endless possibilities offered by this stoic shade of brown, created by mixing
coffee with water, are amazingly appreciable. Name any object and this brown
shade is ready to capture your imagination with perfection. Leaves, shadows,
woods, creatures in darkness or let it be an old and rusty look of an object,
the brown color remains equally user friendly to all objects on canvas.
A peek into the art of coffee painting: A know how & tips for rookies
The prerequisites for a coffee painting remain the same as the conventional
painting, except the variety of shades is replaced by a lone shade of brown. It
offers simplicity of use. Though coffee can be used equally well with all other
mediums like turpentine etc., water remains the best medium for a coffee paste.
Basically any object can be captured with full intricacies using three basic
shades. The shrewd combination of light tone, middle tone and the dark tone can
create the world of its own with just one color. Coffee offers
versatility with variety of brown shades. While focusing on an object and
capturing the light and darkness encompassing the object under consideration,
this brown shade remains equally effective, as can be seen form the pictures.
Even object so complex as a carving can be perfectly captured successfully with
coffee painting. With coffee it is also possible to project the
edges of an object while using the outlines made with water stroke
Skillful use of the endless resources offered by coffee brown offers
plethora of possibilities for a painting. Few minor precautions need to be
ascertained to utilize the potential of coffee painting. The ground rule
advocates shunning the practice of filling entire coverage with light tone.
Similarly no nearest part of outline should be a light tone. Rather leaving it
as original white background offers magical solution. The uncolored white
portion will emphasize the object with the contrast effect. Once the foundation
work of highlighting objects with the light tone completes, middle tone comes
across as a handy tool. Process of repeatedly applying the brush with added
coffee color will help the middle portion emerge bit darker to differentiate
it from light tone on outlines. During final stage of an odyssey of coffee
painting , fat coffee paste is to be used in the areas to be marked
out with dark tone. Blend water with coffee in different extent to create
variety of shades of brown. This will enhance layer development in the painting.
Opposite to the conventional painting style, coffee-painting requests not
to place a canvas in standing position to avoid the spreading of shades, due to
tendency of water flowing downward, in undesired areas. A painting made with
coffee will hold an extra glaze once it gets dried, which is natural. So do
not raise an eyebrow about it.
No doubts, impression & aroma of coffee painting holds breathe of art,
artist and art lovers on single canvas.
